FRAMEWORK SILICATES NATURAL MINERALS OF THE 21ST CENTURY
WHAT ARE FRAMEWORK SILICATES
Minerals from a group of natural volcanic structural silicates known as zeolites. Their characteristic property is the formation of defined cavities and channels in the crystal structure. (See illustration) As a result, bioregulators have a large internal surface area of several hundred square metres per gram. Due to their active surface area, bioregulators have an exceptional absorption and ion exchange capacity. This means that pollutants are absorbed and naturally stored nutrients are released in return.
This is possible because many important pollutants have a higher binding capacity than nutrients. Useful substances such as nutrients, vitamins and trace elements, on the other hand, are only weakly bound and easily released. This means that the nutrients stored in the bioregulators are exchanged for the pollutants during ion exchange. The harmful substances are then bound in the mineral, while the nutrients are available to the organism. The special grinding technology and the quality of the raw material are decisive for the optimum effect of the silicon-containing mineral.
PROPERTIES OF BIOREGULATORS
Bioregulators are stable at high temperatures up to 700°C and are resistant to acids and alkalis. The material therefore does not dissolve in the animal's stomach or faeces. Aluminium is also not dissolved in the organism, as it is an essential component of the pore structure and is not an exchangeable substance. Bioregulators are completely excreted in animal feed, are then found again in the liquid manure and finally end up in agricultural soils through liquid manure fertilisation, where it fulfils its last important function as a soil component to improve the structure and quality of the soil.
‘At all stages of their journey to the field, bioregulators fulfil important
fulfils important functions to improve environmental conditions.’
There are over 100 natural zeolites, but only those that contain the elements calcium, magnesium and potassium, which are important for the organism, are suitable for humans and animals. The bioregulator is a natural rock rich in silicon and has the following regulatory properties:
Absorption Ion exchange Catalyst function
Supply of colloidal SiO2 Control of the electrolyte balance
The following effects have been observed as a result of these properties:
Mineral regulation
Removal of harmful substances from the organism
Regulation of intestinal activity and thus the absorption of active ingredients
Strengthening of the immune system
Elimination of free radicals
QUALITY CRITERIA
The quality of the highly porous bioregulator is essentially determined by three components:
- M = monovalent and divalent cations, e.g. the bulk elements calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, sodium, which are important for organisms
Al and Si = ratio of silicon to aluminium. This influences the lattice structure and thus the porosity and should be at least five.
Accompanying substances = these are inevitably present in all natural zeolites in the order of approx. 15 per cent due to the volcanic history of their formation and should be as free as possible from heavy metals and quartz
THE DISCOVERY
The discovery of the importance of bioregulators is primarily based on observations in nature. For example, it was noticed that the Caucasus peoples and Yakutians in northern Siberia have the highest healthy longevity. It is striking that this is not dependent on climate or living conditions, but that the mineral is an important part of their daily diet. Animals also recognise the benefits of this silicon-containing mineral.
It has been observed that wild animals as well as domestic animals living outdoors (cows, sheep, chickens, geese, ducks) stirred up and drank water containing silicon in riverbeds, streams or lakes with their paws. This lithophagy (~stone-eating) was practised especially during the mating season, during pregnancy and lactation periods.
"The human instinct to ingest rock materials
has been lost in today's industrialised world."
Natural zeolite clinoptilolite is authorised as a dietary supplement in Japan and America, for example, and as a medical product in Russia. Clinoptilolite is also authorised as a medical product for certain manufacturers within the EU.
